Attempting to Bridge the Gap Between the "Then & Now' in a World Without Jamie

Grief is like a HUGE Debbie Downer friend

From 13 years ago today, Captain Cool , on the CMLA basketball league( Catholic Metro League of Atlanta) at his St Brigid basketball game.

This year, The Jamie McHenry Memorial Foundation will cover the cost for the fees for 2 basketball Jamie McHenry Scholarships for CMLA recipients to our basketball scholarships.

And that passage about child loss… it is SPOT ON….. that paradox is tough… to live our lives to the fullest after losing a huge piece of our hearts is extremely difficult and HEAVY…because, with every joyous moment in life, my old “ friend”, Grief, likes to pop up, tap me on my shoulder and whisper in my ear to remind me, “ this moment in your life is great….… BUT….Jamie should be here”…or, “wow, this is a neat place and you are having a fabulous time …. But Jamie never saw this or went here” …. Grief is like a HUGE Debbie Downer friend , who points this out and makes me aware, EVERY time! VERY annoying… but , oddly enough, i wouldn’t want it to be different because as annoying and exhausting as Grief may be, grief reminds me of the love i have, and always will for Jamie.
