Jamie McHenry December 7, 1999 - April 3, 2013

“Great kid, funny, full of life, intense, competitive, impulsive, mischievous, irascible, clever, charming, smart, cute and cuddly, self assured and confident… he’s got swagger”
The Jamie McHenry Memorial Foundation is dedicated to honoring and celebrating Jamie’s life by raising funds to provide support to the high school and youth sports programs in our community. Jamie was a passionate and loyal sports player and teammate.

Our beloved Jamie was hit and killed by a  car over Spring Break 2013 while vacationing with a friend’s family.  It has been and continues to be  a devastating loss to our family.

We formed The Jamie McHenry Memorial Foundation,  a non-profit, to raise funds to give back to our local sports community, of which Jamie was such a big part. The funds are used to allow young athletes to play, enjoy and excel in the sports that gave Jamie so much joy.  It is our way of continuing to take care of our boy.

What is Team 8?

Team 8 is a club lacrosse team created to honor the life and legacy of Jamie McHenry, a young lacrosse player who died in 2013. The program emphasizes a positive, fun, and purposeful approach to lacrosse, celebrating Jamie’s passion for the sport rather than just competition. Every player’s jersey includes the number 8 in tribute to Jamie’s own number. The team draws players from many schools across Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee who love the game. The images on the left showcase the amazing Team 8 teams over the years.

Warrior Moms is a local group in north Atlanta filled with strong, courageous, funny, and fiercely loving women who are surviving and thriving amidst horrific grief. Regardless of how their children left this earth or the amount of time that has since passed, they share a common bond of missing and grieving their children… everyday… Together, we make up the club no one wants to be in, because the initiation is too big of a sacrifice.
